'STITCH HEAD'

Rated PG for action, thematic elements and mild rude humor.

What it’s about: An animated riff on the Frankenstein story sees a mad professor’s assistant, Stitch Head, learning to embrace his differences and “monstrousness” after a stint in a circus freak show.

The kid attractor factor: The animation style and kid-friendly story.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Don’t make yourself smaller for someone else. Embrace who you are — you deserve to be seen.

Violence: Some perilous situations.

Language: None

Sex: None

Drugs: None

Parents’ advisory: A fun and cute movie about learning to be yourself and accept others.

'ANNIVERSARY'

Rated R for language throughout, some violent content, drug use and sexual references.

What it’s about: The study of an American family that slowly crumbles under an increasingly extreme authoritarian state, ushered in by an interloper in the family.

The kid attractor factor: This an adult political drama, not much appeal for kids.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Be careful whom you enable and let into your home under the guise of politeness.

Violence: Some upsetting violent scenes — terrorism, stabbing, shooting, fighting, etc.

Language: Swearing throughout.

Sex: References to sex.

Drugs: Some on-screen marijuana use.

Parents’ advisory: The themes here are too mature and complex to appeal to kids.
