As Honda Powersports enters Grasso’s Garage for the first time, we recognize why consumers have been addicted to the brand for years. Enter the 2025 Honda Pioneer 1000-5 Trail Special Edition, a rec/utility fit for any occasion, any chore and tons of off-road fun.

Powered by a torquey 999cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin, four-stroke engine, with a Unicam cylinder head, the five-seater Pioneer 1000 is specifically designed for fun in the sun, chores around the house, weekend trail enjoyment and even family outings with friends. Our Pioneer 1000-5 Trail Edition side-by-side came fully equipped with four-wheel disc brakes, fully independent double-wishbone suspension, electric power steering and quick flip seating, with two seats in the cargo bed that fold flat when not in use. Also standard are a 4,500 pound Warn winch, black aluminum wheels, two-piece windscreen, hard roof and factory installed audio system featuring Bluetooth connectivity and AM/FM radio. Upgrade options include more than 90 different accessories focused around comfort, recreation, cargo hauling and safety.

Using this vehicle was tons of fun for four consecutive weekends, as we went off-roading, spread new mulch around the garden, helped neighbors with house projects and much more. The abilities and uses of the Pioneer are endless. And the comfort and style are impressive, as are the different seating configurations and model sizes Honda offers across the Pioneer family.

I cannot say enough about the overall Honda brand. I have been an Acura owner for years, and currently I own a Honda CR-V Sport Hybrid owner, a Honda TRX250x 4-wheeler and even the 1987 Honda 70 that I bought decades ago. The brand delivers for consumers at reasonable prices and with outstanding reliability. As the leader in on-road and off-road powersports, it is no surprise that the Pioneer 1000-5 Trail Special Edition checks so many boxes.

I look forward to having Honda Powersports back in the near future for even more off-road opportunities. You might even see something with 2-wheels coming soon!
