Joey King has shut down claims that she has had a facelift.

The Practical Magic 2 star sparked rumours that she had gone under the knife after walking the red carpet at the Met Gala in May, but the actress has now addressed the speculation, insisting she "didn't get work done".

On the latest episode of 29-year-old actor Owen Thiele's In Your Dreams podcast, Joey, 27, said: "I didn't get a facelift. I'm glad we're talking about this."

Revealing how she changed her appearance for the charity benefit that raises money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in Manhattan, New York City, The Act alum continued: "What I did do… I got a spray tan. Fine, whatever.

"And then I did a 36-hour fast. No food, nothing but water, right? Which I don't promote that."

Joey decided to do a "reset" after a bachelorette party, the weekend before the Met Gala.

The Dark Knight Rises entertainer explained: "What happened was I was at a bachelorette party the weekend before, and I was looking swollen and I was drinking a lot… I looked busted. And I was like, I got to do a reset.

"I'm going to do a 24-hour fast, which is like good for you to do once a month if you're healthy enough to do anyway, and then by the time I, like, woke up and like ordered lunch the next day, it wound up being like 36 hours and everything."

Joey continued: "So I did the 36-hour fast, I got a lymphatic massage, and then I got a facial the day before the Met. And then on the day of the Met, I had another face lymphatic massage. So I did fast, a lymphatic massage for the body and face, a facial, and another face massage.

"Like we were doing everything we could to look amazing on the carpet. And guess what? It worked because everybody thought I had plastic surgery, but I didn't."

In May 2024, the Bullet Train cast member said fashion and beauty boost her confidence.

Joey told Forbes magazine: "Fashion and beauty help me embody a certain confidence. I am a confident person, but I do feel that it can be dulled by a lot of things.

When I am in a look that makes me feel beautiful, or unique, or transforms me in any way, it awakens that dormant confidence that is laying underneath all this other c*** that I pile on myself."

Referring to her makeup artist Allan Avendano, 49, she added: "And I have one of the best to help me do that."
