Jack White's mother, Teresa Gillis, has passed away at the age of 95.

The former White Stripes frontman revealed his beloved mother's death on Instagram on Saturday (14.03.26).

He captioned a picture of his mom on the stage: "Teresa Gillis

1930-2026.

Rest in peace with the Lord."

Teresa, who was Polish, was a regular guest at Jack's shows.

In a separate post, he shared a picture of his mom on stage at Little Caesars Arena in 2018 singing White Stripes' hit Hotel Yorba with him.

Teresa had 10 children.

Her Polish heritage and devout Catholicism informed much of the family's daily rhythm, and Jack often credited her with instilling the work ethic that later defined his career. She worked as an usher at Detroit's Masonic Temple and later as a secretary for the Archdiocese of Detroit, roles that reflected her commitment to community and service.

In a 2012 interview with The Guardian, Jack said how the religion has influenced his life: "There's Catholic guilt about things, then there's the guilt of being the youngest of 10, so when nice things happen to you, you're not really allowed to enjoy them."

The 50-year-old musician also shared how his mum would get stuck in and help him when she saw her son working all hours.

Recounting the time she helped with sorting out vinyl sleeves while her son was busy in the studio with his backing bands, he went on: "I offered to drop her off at home and she says, 'No, you're not dropping me off, because you're not going to go back and rehearse and if you do, I'm going to be mad.'"

He laughed: "OK, Mom, I'll stay home."

On his upbringing, he shared: "We were like a white family from the 1920s or something. My parents had this bizarre, different way of looking at things from the people that surrounded us. I went to an all-Mexican grade school and an all-black high school, and not many people in those places liked the same stuff as me. Their families didn't watch the same TV shows my family watched."
