An unknown substance was reportedly found in Britney Spears’ vehicle when the pop star was arrested for a DUI Wednesday night in California.

The substance is being tested and “will be part of the arrest,” as insiders familiar with the case told TMZ. The 44-year-old “Toxic” singer is scheduled to appear in court May 4.

The outlet previously reported that Spears was alone when she was arrested by California Highway Patrol in Westlake Village, and taken to the hospital to establish blood alcohol content.

Online records show Spears was arrested around 9:30 p.m. local time, booked just after 3 a.m. and released about three hours later.

A representative for the Grammy winner shared in a statement to the Daily News that the situation was “an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable.”

Spears’ rep said that she will “take the right steps and comply with the law,” and “her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for [her] well being.”

TMZ reported earlier Thursday that Spears had gotten a permanent restraining order against a 51-year-old Louisiana man arrested for trespassing at her home last year. That incident followed more than a decade the man, identified as Donald, allegedly spent harassing the “Gimme More” singer online.

At the time of publication, Spears’ Instagram account appeared to have been deactivated or deleted.
