DETROIT — The White Stripes will be played into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame by another Midwestern rock duo, it was announced Thursday.
Twenty One Pilots, who hail from just down the road in Columbus, Ohio, will perform "Seven Nation Army" as part of the White Stripes' induction, the band revealed on social media.
"Meg and jack, thanks for having us be a part of your induction to the rock and roll hall of fame," the duo's Tyler Joseph wrote on X. "No group more deserving than the freaking white stripes.. josh and I are working on seven nation army now, and hope to give it every bit of justice it deserves."
The band signed off the post with "nov8," the date of the Rock Hall ceremony.
The White Stripes are joining a Rock Hall class that includes Soundgarden, OutKast, Cyndi Lauper, Bad Company, Chubby Checker and Joe Cocker.
Earlier this month, it was announced that Iggy Pop will be a part of the list of presenters and performers at the event, alongside a lineup that includes Beck, Doja Cat, Brandi Carlile, Elton John, Missy Elliott, Maxwell, Teddy Swims, Flea, David Letterman, Chappell Roan, the Killers, Avril Lavigne, Bryan Adams, Janelle Monáe, Jim Carrey, Donald Glober, En Vogue and more.
Twenty One Pilots consists of vocalist Tyler Joseph and drummer Josh Dun. The cover of the band's most recent album, "Breach," looks a lot like the cover of the White Stripes' 2003 album "Elephant," from which "Seven Nation Army" was released as a single.
The song has since become an international anthem, it's signature chant — "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, oh oh oh ohh, ohhhhhh" — heard in stadiums worldwide.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony, which will he held Nov. 8 at Los Angeles' Peacock Theater, will stream live on Disney+ starting at 8 p.m. ET.
