Singer Connie Francis was hospitalized in Florida Wednesday with “extreme pain,” forcing her to pull out of an Independence Day show, just weeks after the octogenarian joined TikTok amid the virality of her music.

“I had hoped to take part in [Cousin] Brucie’s show for Independence Day, having had to cancel a previous slot a few weeks ago when receiving treatment on my hip,” the Newark native said early afternoon. “Sadly, I had to let him know that I again had to withdraw. My thanks for your many get well soon messages. I will endeavor to keep you updated.”
By early evening, the Golden Globe winner said that she was in a private room, “following a series of tests and examinations in Intensive Care” and once again thanked fans “for your kind thoughts, words and prayers. They mean so much!”
Francis has not yet detailed her condition, though family sources told TMZ she’s contended with orthopedic issues in recent years.
Just last month, Francis joined TikTok amid the “huge buzz” her 1962 hit “Pretty Little Baby” sparked on the platform.
“To think that a song I recorded 63 years ago is captivating new generations and audiences is truly overwhelming for me. Thank you, TikTok,” said a “flabbergasted and excited” Francis as she provided her own lip-synced version of the song.
At the time of publication, Francis’ video has been viewed 16 million times and liked by more than 656,000 users.
